Springtime Activities in Chicago

There is no better feeling than coming out of a long, grueling Chicago winter to sunny spring. Sometimes when we’re in the same routine for months, it’s hard to remember all that the beautiful Chicago has to offer during the springtime. To remind you, we’ve rounded up a few spring activities in Chicago for you to enjoy with family or friends.

Chicago is known for having plenty of shopping attractions and eateries which are great ways to spend your day, but one can only shop so much until they drop. A great kid-friendly alternative to shopping is heading to Navy Pier. Located off of Lake Michigan, there are endless opportunities for a fun day with whomever you choose! You can start with a ride on the Centennial Wheel to enjoy the view of Chicago and Lake Michigan. If heights aren’t your strong suit, take the kids to Pier Park where they can ride the Navy Pier Carousel or Pepsi Wave Swinger. You can even stop by AMC Navy Pier IMAX to see Hollywood’s latest releases.

April showers definitely do bring May flowers, but what are you supposed to do on those rainy days? Head inside and enjoy indoor activities, of course! Chicago is home to two great museums: Museum of Science and Industry and the Field Museum. It’s also home to Shedd Aquarium and Adler Planetarium. You can choose any of four of these activities and we are sure you and the kids will have a great time together.

If you’re looking for something to do on those spring days with great weather, we highly recommend enjoying your time at Maggie Daley Park. Although the kids will always enjoy their adventures on the jungle gyms at the park, try something new and go roller blading at the Skating Ribbon. You could also rent scooters if roller blading isn’t your thing. Have older kids that need something to do? Send them over to the climbing wall or challenge them to a game of mini golf. There is family fun for all which makes Maggie Daley Park a great getaway from the indoors.

Last but not least, the Lincoln Park Zoo is a great option for springtime when the weather isn’t too hot or too cold. Enjoy a day learning about the lions, monkeys, bears and many more sweet animals. Did we mention admission is free? Even better!

With any of these fun Chicago activities, it’s always important to stay hydrated. Make sure to grab a few bottles of Absopure water on your way out!
